He was born in 1815 or 1816 at New York, USA.1,2 Alternatively, he may have been born in 1820 according to James Dewey Beale's Sons of the American Revolution application.3 Zalmon married Olive Caldwell Hall on 6 October 1848 at Maquoketa Twp., Jackson County, Iowa, USA.4,3,1,2
Zalmon Livermore died on 6 June 1886 at Oto, Oto Twp., Woodbury County, Iowa, USA.3
Zalmon and Olive Caldwell Livermore appeared on the 1860 U.S. Federal Census of Maquoketa, Maquoketa Twp., Jackson County, Iowa, enumerated 20 August 1860, described as a farmer. Their children: Kate, Jos., Lillie, Chas. H., Omar and Frank, were listed as living with them. He reported owning real estate valued at $6,000 and a $2,000 personal estate. They had one domestic, Hannah Cleveland (58) who had been born in Canada.1
Z. and Olive Caldwell Livermore appeared on the 1870 U.S. Federal Census of Woodbury County, Iowa, Sioux City Post Office, enumerated 28 June 1870, described as a farmer. Their children: Lillie, Charles, Homer, Frank, Seibert and Myrtle, were listed as living with them. He reported owning real estate valued at $8,000. This enumeration actually records this as two households. The first only includes Z. Livermore and Olive Caldwell. The second of them lists Jos. and Sylvia and then all of Joseph's siblings. For clarity, I have recorded them here as one household.5

MRS. OLIVE C. LIVERMORE.
Olive C. Hall was born in Sherman, Chautauqua county, New York, on June 28, 1830. She had three brothers and two sisters, all of whom have preceded her to the great be-yond. On October 4, 1848, she was united in marriage to Zalmon Livermore at the home of her parents at Maquoketa, Iowa. To them were born nine children. Of these, six have gone on before into the other life, Joseph, Mrs. Lillie B. Furgason, Charles H., Omar, Seba, and a son who passed away in infancy. Those who survive their mother are Frank A. of Moville, Mrs. Myrtle 0. Beals, and Elmer Z. of Oto.
Forty-seven years ago, Mrs. Livermore came with her husband and family on a journey westward across the state of Iowa, from Maquoketa to Oto. Most of this journey was made by ox team. The family settled on a farm about one and one-half miles north of Oto, and here they resided until after the death of the husband and father on June 6, 1886. Since that time, Mrs. Livermore has made her home with her children, for the last three or four years having made a home for her son, Elmer, on his farm near Oto.
Mrs. Livermore lived considerably longer than the allotted three score years and ten, being 84 years, 10 months and 1 day of age on the day of her death, April 29, 1915. During most of her life she has enjoyed good health, and has been a very active woman. During the last two years, however, she has had occasional illnesses, increasing in frequency, but her passing away was peaceful and quiet. The kindest of care and attention were given her by the loving ones who were near-by. She was a good mother. Perhaps she will be missed most by her son, with whom she has made her home during her last years, but none other can fill her place in the hearts of all the bereaved ones. She will ever be remembered as a faithful friend and a kind neighbor, always being willing to help the needy in distress, always liberal in her gifts to worthy causes. She was a member of the Congregational church, and she put forth her best efforts to lead a Christian life. Her long life has come to an end, but during her days she saw her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grand-children established in homes of their own. It is quite a remarkable fact that there survive her 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Five nephews and three nieces also survive. Think of the experiences that have come during the years of her life, of the changes that have been wrought, of the memories that linger now that she is gone! Long life may not fall to the lot of all of us, but a good life is possible to all.
The funeral services were conducted from the residence Saturday afternoon by Rev. W. E. Ellison. Burial took place in the Correctionville cemetery. The pall-bearers were: Arthur Beals and Glen Livermore, grandsons; Eddie and Ellis Griffith, great-grandsons, and Neville and Walter Allen, great-nephews.
CARD OF THANKS. The family of Mrs. 0. C. Livermore desire to express their thanks and appreciation for the many acts of kindness and expressions of sympathy shown them in their recent bereavement. Also for the many beautiful floral offerings.

Proponent Jumps to His Feet and Declares He Will Answer Questions Lawyer Is Asking Jury in His Address.
In summing up the evidence In the suit of E. S. Furgason to break, the will of Mrs. Olive Livermore, an Oto pioneer, T. G. Henderson, counsel for the proponents., told the jury yesterday that Furgason had made his mother-in-law live in a shack with his hired help, refusing to low her to live in his fine house.
The attorney read from a letter, which had been written by Mrs. Livermore to her children, in which she chided them i n allowing her to live as they did. Attorney Henderson dwelt on the letter at some length to refute the testimony of Furgason that he had given Mrs. Livermore greater care than her own children had.
A tilt between Attorney Henderson and Mr. Furgason featured the morning session of the court. The lawyer was address the jury and was sarcastically complimenting Furgason for his treatment of his mother-in-law, when the plaintiff jumped to his feet and declared he would answer the questions which Mr. Hendson was asking the jury in his argument.
Furgason brought suit to break the will, the on the grounds that his three children, grandchildren of Mrs. Livermore, should (illegible) their mother's share of the estate. Mrs. Furgason preceded her mother in death. Mrs. Livermore in her last will left $100 to each of her twenty-two grandchildren. Furgason attempted to show Mrs. Livermore was of unsound, mind at the time she drew up the will and that she was unduly influenced by. her two sons and her daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Olive BealS.13
In the death registration of Frank A. Livermore, who died on 26 August 1923, Olive Hall was identified as his mother.14 MRS. LIVERMORE MISTREATED, ALLEGED IN WILL SUIT.

Research notes (April 2024):
Determine the parents of her grandchildren, named as heirs in her will: an unknown person.12
A legal notice in Januray 1917 related to the sale of real estate in her estate leads me to believe that the above challenge to her will was unsuccessful. The executors in the notice were Myrtle Olive Beals and Elmer Z. Livermore, since they were named in her will.15
