She was born on 2 February 1863 at Lincolnshire, England, according to her brother, Joseph Crosskill, the informant on her death registration.5 Alternatively, she may have been born between 1862 and 1863 at Grimolby, Lincolnshire, England, age 9 in the 1871 census, 11 on the Prussian's 1873 passenger list and age 43 at the time of her second marriage8,9,6,2,7,1 or in 1862 according to her grave marker.10 Alternatively, she may have been born on 4 February 1864 at Lincolnshire, England, according to the 1901 census.11 Emma married Marshall Burns Lloyd on 15 March 1882 at Meaford, St. Vincent Twp., Grey County, Ontario, Canada, according to Ontario Marriage Registration 003441. He was a trader.12,13,14,15,1 Emma Croskill and Marshall Burns Lloyd were divorced on 22 October 1898 at Minnesota, USA.16,17,18 Emma married John James Johnston on 21 July 1906 at Meaford, St. Vincent Twp., Grey County, Ontario, Canada, listed as widow and widower on according to Ontario Marriage Registration 009240.8,4,6
She died on 30 August 1935 at Meaford, St. Vincent Twp., Grey County, Ontario, Canada, at age 72 according to Ontario Death Registration 016873.. She had lived there for 30 years according to this death registration.3,4,5,19 The informant on her death registration was her brother, Joseph Crosskill.5      Emma Croskill was buried on 2 September 1935 at Lakeview Cemetery, Meaford, St. Vincent Twp., Grey County, Ontario, Canada.4,8,5,10,19

Census Data

Emma Croskill appeared on the 1871 British Census of at England, Lincolnshire, in the household of her mother Mary Ann Croskill, listed as a scholar.2
Emma Lloyd appeared on the 1901 Canadian Census of Meaford, St. Vincent Twp., Grey County, Ontario, enumerated 31 March 1901. Emma was enumerated as a boarder in the James Thompson household. She gave her marital status as married, even though Marshall Burns Lloyd had remarried by this time..11
She immigrated with her mother, Mary Ann White on 19 July 1873 to Port of Québec, Québec, Canada, leaving Liverpool on July 10, 1873, via Londonderry, Ireland on the Montreal Ocean Steamship Company ship "Prussian."20,21,22,23,7,24
Emma Lloyd was referenced in an article about her testifiying for her husband, Ald. Marshall B. Lloyd in the libel suit brought by his brother-in-law, William Jamieson published on 7 October 1898.25

The following newspaper article appeared in the Minneapolis, Minnesota Star Tribune 23 October 1898 :
Marital Bonds Severed.
Emma Lloyd was granted a divorce from Ald. Marshall B. Lloyd yesterday by Judge Johnson. The defendant was placed on the stand for cross-examination under the statute, and upon his evidence the decision was made. The case is interesting, coming so soon after the Jameson-Lloyd libel case, in which Mrs. Lloyd was a witness on behalf of her husband.18

The following analysis is from my personal research and reflects my attempts to consolidate information from different sources.
I assume that Benjamin and Mary Ann had two children named Emma. Several sources have found evidence of a baptism record showing Emma was born in March 1861, but she is not listed in the 1861 census which was enumerated on April 12th. Jean Rhiness reports that other evidence indicates that Emma considered herself to be 2 years younger that the 1861 date would indicate. This is consistent with the 1871 census where Emma is shown as being 9 years old.

Until I find other evidence, I will assume that the first Emma died prior to April 12, 1861.

The second was born 02 Feb 1863 as reported by her brother, Joseph. He was the informant for her death registration

Marshall Davies Lloyd wrote on March 16, 2003:
Just hearsay, but I know that Emma stayed in Meaford and when my folks would visit they would see her and always thought she was quite wronged. Marshall went on to marry Margaret Isadora "Dora" and Henrietta (Hammer) Pollen "Polly." Dora successfully sued the estate (NYT article) and Polly married again after MB died (a man named Merrill). She is buried in the Mausoleum in Menominee.

In the 1901 Census, Emma Lloyd is boarding with the James Thompson family. She is enumerated as "married."26,27,28
