Marital Bonds Severed.
Emma Lloyd was granted a divorce from Ald. Marshall B. Lloyd yesterday by Judge Johnson. The defendant was placed on the stand for cross-examination under the statute, and upon his evidence the decision was made. The case is interesting, coming so soon after the Jameson-Lloyd libel case, in which Mrs. Lloyd was a witness on behalf of her husband.20

The following analysis is from my personal research and reflects my attempts to consolidate information from different sources.
I assume that Benjamin and Mary Ann had two children named Emma. Several sources have found evidence of a baptism record showing Emma was born in March 1861, but she is not listed in the 1861 census which was enumerated on April 12th. Jean Rhiness reports that other evidence indicates that Emma considered herself to be 2 years younger that the 1861 date would indicate. This is consistent with the 1871 census where Emma is shown as being 9 years old.
Until I find other evidence, I will assume that the first Emma died prior to April 12, 1861.
The second was born 02 Feb 1863 as reported by her brother, Joseph. He was the informant for her death registration
Marshall Davies Lloyd wrote on March 16, 2003:
Just hearsay, but I know that Emma stayed in Meaford and when my folks would visit they would see her and always thought she was quite wronged. Marshall went on to marry Margaret Isadora "Dora" and Henrietta (Hammer) Pollen "Polly." Dora successfully sued the estate (NYT article) and Polly married again after MB died (a man named Merrill). She is buried in the Mausoleum in Menominee.
In the 1901 Census, Emma Lloyd is boarding with the James Thompson family. She is enumerated as "married."28,29,30
