Katherine Marie Harrison was buried at Elmwood Cemetery, Flora, Clay County, Illinois, USA.5
She was commonly known as Katie.5
The following biographical information was shared at the family tree database of Merrie Rue Smith, 24 November 2000:
Ralph and Kate were born in Dearborn Co, IN; started housekeeping in the log house on Leapers Creek, west of the Reuben Jackson homestead. The stone chimney and pantry or cellar to this house was still intact when I left home in 1947. They moved to Farmer City, De Witt Co., IL in 1881. Ralph died at Flora, Clay Co., IL of pneumonia in 1900.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RECEIVED FROM CARL HARLEY MANKIN:

Carl's Mother (Helen Jackson) and grandmother (Clara Bertha Luehm Jackson) wrote in their copy of Alta Mae Jackson's genealogy the following:

Attached to obituary of Thomas Langdale Jackson "...and one granddaughter, Helen Marie Jackson."

Also, the following:

"Thomas and Mary Ellen Jackson began their married life 1870 in the log house on Leapers Creek just west of the Reuben Jackson home later called "The Valley Hill Farm." Tommy and his wife lived there only a few years because a younger brother, Ralph and Katharine Jackson were married in 1877 and set up housekeeping in the same log house. The big stone chimney, pantry and well were still there when we were kids, but all was wiped out by the big Texas Pipe Lines when they went thru Dad's farm the second time in 1964."1

Katherine's father, George William Harrison, was the brother of Benjamin Harrison, the 23rd President of the United States. Katherine's grandfather, John Scott Harrison was a farmer and congressman. Katherine's great-grandfather, William Henry Harrison, was the 9th President of the United States. (William Henry Harrison was the oldest man to become President until Ronald Reagan became President. He holds the record for the longest inauguration speech - 1 and 1/2 hours. He was also the first President to die in office. He died exactly one month after becoming President.) Katherine's great-great grandfather, Benjamin Harrison V was a signer of the Declaration of Independence.2

The following biographical information appeared at the LDS Ancestral File Genealogy of the John Jackson Family ( AFN: 1J6J-705), 1975:
Ralph Jackson, a man who served his community as a businessman, realtor, builder, city councilman, chamber of commerce president, teacher and farmer during his 78 years of life, died Saturday in a Tulsa hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Adair where he had been a member for the past 65 years.

Jackson had been active in Pryor business and civic activities since moving to Pryor in 1961, and had received all of the top honors awarded by Pryor civic organizations.

He was born Dec. 24, 1910 in Miami to Clint Rowe and Winifred Jackson. The Jackson family had moved to Chouteau, Indian Territory from Flora, Ill., in 1906.

The family then moved to Miami but returned to Mayes County in 1919, and settled in Adair in 1924 when Jackson was in eighth grade.

He graduated from Adair High School in 1929, and later, Murray State School of Agriculture at Tishamingo.

On June 16, 1935, he was married to Bonnie Fitton at Anderson, Mo., a former Adair school teacher. Jackson also worked for soil conservation for nine years and the Civilian Conservation Corps as a local experience man and assistant engineer.

When Dupont was considering building a munitions plant south of Pryor, he served as chief of the survey party, laying out the base coordinant line for the plant.

During World War II and for several years afterwards, he opened a Grade "A" dairy and farmed extensively.

Following in his father's footsteps, he became a state farm agent in 1952.

He and his wife moved to Pryor in 1961 and built their home on South Coo-Y-Yah. With his brother, Norman, he built several homes in Pryor and the surrounding areas.

He was an organizer of the Exchange Club in Pryor, was a past president of the Pryor Lions Club and the Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Pryor city council.

He received the prestigious Service to Mankind Award from the Sertoma Club in 1975 and also, in that same year, was named Citizen of the Year and received the Mayes County Fair Service Award.

In 1984, he received the Green Country Distinguished Service Award, and last year was saluted as "Founding Father" of Kendrick-Jackson Realty in Pryor.

He was a sponsor of a Little League team and was active in the Mayes County Free Fair, particularly with the Junior Livestock and Future Farmers of America. He served on the Pryor Home Rescue Mission board of directors for many years.

Jackson retired as a State Farm agent in 1977 but continued his interest in real estate. He enjoyed working in his fix-it shop and making jewelry for friends.

A member of the United Methodist Church since 1924, he had held almost every office and had taught the Adult Bible Class for almost 40 years. His church was the most important part of his life, his family said. He was also a Gideon.

Ralph Jackson was described as a man "who never turned down an opportunity to assist his fellow man or his community."

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Bonnie, of the home; one brother, Norman D. Jackson, of Adair; one sister, Betty E. Hood of Friday Harbor, Wash; 11 nieces and nephews, Barbara Sissom of Anchorage, Alaska, Susan Sissom of Fairbanks, Alaska, Becky Davis of Fairbanks, Jean Anderson of Pryor, Jo Ann Littleford of Albuquerque, N.M., Mary Katherine Boston of Fountain Valley, Calif., Paul Falls of Plano, Texas, Dwayne Jackson of Bixby, Jimmy Jackson of Faxson, David Jackson of Adair and Ken Clagett of Tulsa.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Eileen Clagett in 1963 and Katherine Falls in 1986 and his parents.

The Rev. Gary Harber and Rev. Neil Winslow will officiate at Mr. Jackson's funeral services.

Interment will follow in the Adair Cemetery under the direction of Key Funeral Home of Pryor.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Adair United Methodist Church Building Fund.3

Excerpt from David Norman Jackson's letter in reference to his father, Norman Delmar Jackson. "Dad made a rolltop desk for Dwayne (Dwayne Rowe Jackson) about 5 years ago. It was made out of oak. He made one for Jim (James Edmond Jackson), Mark's dad last year. Dad's health got so bad he couldn't finish it by himself. He asked a friend of ours here in Adair to help him finish it. Jim's desk is made of black walnut. Dad also made all of the altar furniture at the church. He made the pulpit in 1960 after his father died. There is also a communion table and a lectern. There is also a cross that is about 4 feet long that is on the wall behind where the choir sits. Everything is made of black walnut. The communion table, lectern and cross were made about 10 years ago. He made me a bookcase of black walnut. Dad's death was a shock, but I had been expecting it. He couldn't hardly get around."2
