Married
McCORKILL—TEBOW---At the residence of George Tebow, near Delavan, Kans., on Wednesday, March 7, at high noon, Mr. Thos. H. McCorkill to Miss Flora Tebow. The wedding was a quiet, home affair, and only a few neighbors and friends were invited. After the ceremony by a former pastor, Rev. E. 0. Raymond, who was assisted by Rev. T. P. Henry, a most bounteous dinner was served. Nothing was left undone to make the occasion complete and enjoyable in the extreme. Mr. Tebow is an old settler in Grand View township, and by dint of honest effort and persistent perseverance, seconded by his good wife, have made for themselves a nice stock farm of a half section and a pleasant and hospitable home. They have raised quite a family of children, who rise to call them blessed. The only sad part of this occasion is to see this grand old Methodist home divided, as one by one they are won by the arts of life's wooing, and step out of the home seat to try their fortunes in the world for themselves. May the blessings of the home and many friends attend the children and abundant success crown their every effort.9

Ambrose E. Nowlin, farmer, stock dealer and general trader Lawrenceburgh, is a native of Dearborn County, and was born in 1843, son of Jeremiah Nowlin. He grew up a farmer boy and received a common school education with the advantage of a two years course of study in the Miami University, of Oxford, Ohio, in 1863 and 1864. On reaching his majority Mr. Nowlin began business operations for himself. He taught three terms of school, when, becoming convinced that that occupation was not his forte, he began farming and stock dealing, which he has ever since continued with marked success. Mr. Nowlin was married in August, 1870, to Miss Flora B. Baker, daughter of William H. Baker, of Manchester Township, Dearborn County, and two children have been born of this union: Oakey B. and Margaret P.
In former years Mr. Nowlin entered land of his father, but on the death of the latter he received his portion of the general estate, which he heirs divided among themselves without the aid of court, lawyer or administrator. In 1880 he purchased his farm of eighty acres near Greendale and has since resided there. About the same year he purchased a farm of on Tanner's Creek. Mr. Nowlin takes an active interest in local politics and has served two years as chairman of the Republican Central Committee of Dearborn County. He is one of the seven stockholders of the People's National Bank, a director of the same, and as a citizen, a representative man in the best sense of the term.15

The following biographical information appeared at the book Memoirs of the Lower Ohio Valley published in Madison, Wisconsin, 1905:
AMBROSE E. NOWLIN, collector of internal revenue for the Sixth district of Indiana, with offices at Lawrenceburg, was born in Dearborn county, Ind., in the year 1843, and has been a resident of the county all his life. His father, Jerry Nowlin, was born in Kentucky in 1806, but came with his father to Indiana while still in his boyhood. He passed his life as a farmer in Dearborn county and died there in 1873. Ambrose received his early education in the common schools, afterward graduating in the scientific course from Miami university, at Oxford, Ohio. From college he returned home and took up farming as an occupation, which he has followed ever since. In 1890 he was one of the five supervisors of the census in Indiana, and in 1894 was elected auditor of the county. Notwithstanding Dearborn county is generally Democratic by a majority of seven or eight hundred he was elected by a plurality of three hundred. After serving two years as auditor he resigned to accept his present position, having received the appointment from President McKinley in 1897. Mr. Nowlin is a director in the People's bank, which he helped to organize twenty-two years ago. He is a Knight of Pythias and a member of Lawrenceburg Lodge, No. 4, Free and Accepted Masons. In 1870 he was married to Flora B., daughter of W. H. Baker, of Dearborn county. They have one daughter, Margaret, now the wife of M. W. Fisk. Their son, Oakey, after completing his education and becoming established in business with bright prospects for a successful career, was stricken with typhoid fever and died just as he was entering the twenty-second year of his life.22
He, of Lawrenceburg, was the informant on the death registration of his wife, Flora B. Nowlin, who died on 5 September 1923.14 Ambrose E.
