The "Provincial Obituary" of 06 May 1954, may be more accurate than the one of 15 APr 1954. The age it reports is consistent with his Ontario birth registration. Thus, he may have died at his home, rather than in hospital as reported in the earlier obituayr.9

She was born in Renfrew, Ont, and came West in 1903 to settle in the McTavish district. In 1920 (sic) she married A. J. McNab, their farm being six miles north of Asquith. The late Mrs. McNab had been in failing health for the past six years, but throughout continued to take an active interest in community affairs and contributed many donations of her work to the Red Cross and to the Asquith United Church.
She leaves her widower; two sons, Glenn, at home, Donald, who is serving with the R.C.A.F. at Langara Island, B.C.: three daughters, Agnes, attending the Technical Collegiate, Saskatoon, Elsie and Mary, at home; and a sister, Mrs. John Cowan.
The funeral service, held from the family residence, was conducted by Rev. R. W. ASQUITH FARMER DEAD
W. J, McTavish. a pioneer of the Asquith district, died at his farm home seven miles from town Wednesday afternoon. Burial in charge of the Park Funeral Home, will take place in the family plot Monday.7

ASQUITH.--Many friends attended the funeral in the United Church here Monday of William J. McTavish, pioneer of the district since 1904, whose homestead and farmhome is located seven miles north west of town. Burial was in Eagle Creek cemetery, the mourners travelling the 11 miles over enow-drifted roads by sleigh. Rev. A. Cross officiated. Pallbearers were J. D. McTavish, Allan McNab, Peter McTavish, Walter Rice, Donald McTavish and Sam Lake. Sixty-six years old, Mr. McTavish died suddenly at his home Wednesday of a heart attack. Ha had been 111 for some time. He was an active worker in the affairs of the community and was for many years a director of the district telephone company. He was born on a farm near Perth, Ont. He is survived by hie widow, the former Rachel McTavish, four sons and one daughter, Peter, Hugh. Helen, Robert and Stuart. Robert recently returned from overseas after serving in Africa, Italy, Belgium and Holland. Peter, who had been visiting relatives In the Perth district, and Helen, who had been nursing in Toronto, came home for the funeral.8
