     William Robert Packard died on 26 November 2018, in a hospice, at Chandler, Maricopa County, Arizona, USA, at age 78 Bill fell in Mazatlan about two weeks earlier and suffered a brain bleed. He had emergency surgery, and was later transported by air ambulance back to Phoenix. He never regained consiousness after the surgery. He was a dear friend, and we will miss him.3
     He was commonly known as Bill.4
     In the obituary of Muriel Beulah Summach who died 8 December 1992, her son-in-law, Bill Packard, of Portland, Oregon, was listed as a survivor.5
     In the obituary of George Henry Seymour who died 15 May 2014, his son-in-law, Bill Packard, was listed as a survivor.6

     Christopher Carter and Matilda Ann Carter emigrated on 11 July 1883 from the East India Docks, London, England, to the port of Wellington, New Zealand on the "Hermione." The voyage took 95 days, arriving on 15 Oct 1883.

Arrival of the Hermione From London
     The ship Hermione was signalled early yesterday morning, but owing to the prevalence of unfavourable weather, she dropped anchor off Rangitoto Reef during the afternoon, and came up the harbour to-day. Her passage has occupied 95 days from London and 84 days from the Channel. Captain Roberts, who again arrives in command of the Hermione, reported having left East India Docks on July 11, and towed to Gravesend. Left Gravesend on the 12th, and the Downs at 6 a.m. on the 11th. Was In company with the ship Pleione off Beechy Head at noon on the 16th, and on the 19th had the ships Pleione and Hurunui in company off Eddystone. On the 20th cleared the Channel, with wind fresh from N.W. by W. Passed Madeira on July 28th, after which the N.E. trades were picked up and carried to 13deg. 15min. N., 25 W., on August 5th. Crossed tho Equator on August 11th in 17 deg. 41 W., and had good S.F. trades to 20deg. S. The meridian of Greenwich was passed on Sept. 3. after which strong westerly winds prevailed till the 1 th (sic). Tasmania was passed on October 5th, and Three Kings sighted on the 11th inst. Passed Capo Brett at 2 a.m. next day, and was three miles off Tiritiri on Saturday last. Head-reaching under storm canvas until daylight esterday (sic). Received pilot at 2.20 p.m., and anchored hi Rangitoto Channel at 5.25 p.m. on the same day. The Hermione brings a large cargo, a list of which appeared in our issue of Friday evening, and the following passengers: - Saloon : Frank Matson and Jolde Brown. Second cabin: Christopher Carter, Matilda Carter….7

There are numerous articles in "Papers Past" referring to Christopher Carter, director of a petroleum interest. One article confirms that he was a grocery by occupation, so this is the correct individual. Review these articles.9
