Hitch-Hiker Beaten And Robbed
Eldon Albert Yourth of Cardinal, Ont. was beaten and robbed by two soldiers with whom he had hitch-hiked a ride from Prescott to Ottawa shortly after midnight last night. Yourth is in the General Hospital where his condition is stated to be not serious.
Yourth told police he had hitch-hiked a ride at Prescott last night and was picked up by two soldiers They brought him to Ottawa and when they arrived they drove along Cambridge Street. When they crossed Cambridge Street Bridge, Yourth, who was sitting in the rear of the car with one of the soldiers, was struck a blow at the base of the skull shich knocked him senseless. He came to sometime later lying beside the CNR tracks near the bridge. His wallet, containing $35, was gone.
Dectivies Albert LeBlanc and Lester Routlifte are investigating. No trace of the soldiers has been found.1
