     She was also known as Elizabeth Laymann according to her daughter Amanda's birth registration.11
     She was commonly knownas Louisa on her gravestone.6,3
     Herman and Lizzie Hartwick appeared on the 1901 Canadian Census of Renfrew County, Ontario, enumerated 31 March 1901, described as a Farmer and a Baptist. Their children: Minnie, Alex, Ernst, Mary A, Danial and Isabella, were listed as living with them. Their 18 year old adopted son, William Burton was listed as a farm labourer. He was probably the British Home Child, William Charles Burton.5

     Herman and Louise Hartwick appeared on the 1921 Canadian Census of Hagarty Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, enumerated 1 June 1921. Herman was described as a farmer and a Baptist. Their children Ernest, Daniel, Isabel, Andrew and Amanda were listed as living with them.8
     Louise Lehman was recorded as mother of the bride at the marriage of George William Yourth and Bella Hartwig on 29 June 1921.1 Louise Lehman was a survivor of her husband August who died in 1934.12 Mrs. Herman Hartwick was listed as the mother of the groom in the marriage of Daniel Hartwick and Vernia Catherine Noack on 6 July 1938.13
