They then returned to the USA throufh the port of St. Albans, Vermont. Their niece, Edith L Stallings was on the same ship.1

     An article about C.A. Megrue's 92nd birthday celebration published on 22 April 1943 at the weekly newspaper The Dearborn County Register referenced his nephew, Dr. C. A. Langdale.16

     "On October 6, 1944, Lancaster PD214 set off from RAF Metheringham on a massive bombing raid on the German industrial city of Bremen but nothing was heard from the plane after take off. The International Red Cross reported the plane had crashed and that the Germans had recovered two bodies." In 1946, an RAF team exhumed the two bodies recovered by the Germans, but then the location was "lost" in the RAF archives, leaving the families to believe their loved ones had disappeared into the North Sea.
