     Oliver Albert Forsyth of Asquith Post Office was conscripted on 9 May 1918 at Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. He took his medical examination in Saskatoon on Oct 16, 1917. He joined the 1st Depot Battalion, Saskatchewan Regiment. He was an unmarried farmer with no previous military experience. He was described as being 5' 11 1/2" with a dark complexion, grey eyes and dark hair. On his conscription papers he listed his next-of-kin as his father, George A. Forsyth of Asquith. He was assigned regimental number 260413.²
     On 30 May 1918, at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, he was transferred to the Canadian Engineers.¹¹ Sapper Oliver Albert Forsyth ended military service as part of general demobilization on 13 January 1919 at Brockville, Ontario, Canada, having served with the Canadian Engineers in Canada. He had been on harvest leave from Aug 23, 1918 to this date.
