Franklin appeared on the1901 Canadian Census of Algona Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, in the household of Julius P. Resmer and Mary C. Resmer, a Shanty (lumber camp) day labourer.3
The following newspaper article appeared in the book Reflections of a Century compiled by the Eganville Leader (2002) at Eganville at Ontario originally published 6 May 1932 :
May 6 - Committed for Trial
That the recent assault on Mr. W.W. Watson, local liquor vendor, by Charles Resmer, and the consequences thereof, have incited the public mind, was manifested on Friday afternoon here when the accused was brought before Police Magistrate Chown of Renfrew. There was an assembly of three or four hundred persons to hear the evidence. Mr. H.B. Johnston, K.C. county crown attorney, or Pembroke, prosecuted while Mr. M.D. Williams, of Pembroke, appeared for the defence (sic).

The prosecution called three witnesses, Dr. Reeves, Mr. Watson and Mr. Thomas Thompson, and when these gentlemen were heard, the prosecuting attorney submitted that sufficient testimony was adduced to warrant a committal. The Magistrate concurred, and the accused will appear before the next court of criminal jurisdiction at Pembroke.

In the case of Frank Schruder, charged with using threatening language towards the liquor vendor, judgment was reserved pending an enquiry if Schruder was a permit holder. The testimony in this connection was conflicting.

May 20 -- Two Months for Assault
Charles Resmer appeared before His Honor Judge Mulcahy at Pembroke on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to the charge of assault, with intent to do bodily injury, on the person of W.W. Watson, liquor vendor at Eganville. The preliminary hearing was held in Eganville several weeks ago before Magistrate Chown of Renfrew who committed the accused for trial. Mr. Watson was the only witness examined at Pembroke. A sentence of two months in the county jail was imposed on Resmer.

She was born circa 1857 at modern Germany or Poland.1
The following analysis is from my personal research and reflects my attempts to consolidate information from different sources.
Rick Schroeder includes Mary, born about 1857, in the family of Gottlieb Quast and Christina Sell. If he is correct, she probably died before the family emigrated in 1860, since she was not on the related passenger list.2
