Wilfred Pilgrim appeared in the 1911 Canadian Census of Brudenell Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario in the household of his parents, John and Ann Pilgrim.6 Wilfried Pilgrim, of Guiney P.O., Ontario, was the informant on the death registration of his brother, Lester John Pilgrim, who died on 9 July 1939.10
The following obituary was provided to me 1 September 2009 at an ancestry.com family tree database by Ruth Pilgrim:
Following is an obituary about Wilfred Pilgrim, Jan 1940, saved by his wife, Esther.
The angel of death entered one of our homes on January 1, and claimed one of our young men and fathers in the person of Wilfrid (sic) Pilgrim. He took sick December 29th and was rushed to the Pembroke Cottage Hospital where an operation for appendicitis was performed, but the effort to save his life failed. He was born on July 26th, 1904, and was married to Esther Rose Junop. Their home was blessed with four sons and one daughter. There preceded him in death two sisters, Ida and Minnie and one brother, Lester.
Besides his sorrowing wife and family, he leaves to mourn his parents, one brother, George, and six sisters, namely, Rebecca (Mrs. William Phannenhour), Clara (Mrs. Louis Hilderbrand), of Rosenthal, Hattie (Mrs. Alex Brohart), Mary (Mrs. George Hartwick) of Letterkenny, Alvina (Mrs. Ted Binnie) Canadian Northwest, and Eleanor (Mrs. John Verch) of Killaloe.
Mr. Pilgrim was a devoted father and lover of home respected by all who had acquaintance. At the age of fifteen years he was united with the Rosenthal Evangelical Church and remained faithful until death.
The funeral took place on Thursday afternoon from his home to Rosenthal church and cemetery. Rev. W. A. Durst had charge of the funeral and J. H. Draves led in prayer at the house.
May those that mourn find rest in the things divine.8
