Elora, Nov. 18
A former pastor of Elora and Fergus churches, Dr. George A. MacDonald, 52*, died at the Knox church manse in Edmonton on Friday. Dr. MacDonald was born at Galt in 1886*. He graduated from Toronto University in 1910. Originally a Presbyterian minister, he joined the United church at the time of church union.
Deceased was a chaplain in the Great War and went to France with the 84th*Infantry Battalion. At the outbreak of the present was he joined the colors again and was appointed chaplain with the R.C.A.F. in western Canada.
Dr. MacDonald accompanied the Lord Tweedsmuir on a flight through the Peace River district into the Arctic circle four years ago,
During his stay in Elora, Dr. MacDonald preached in the Presbyterian church. After church union he went to Ottawa. He also preached at Fergus for four years.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George MacDonald of Brantford, his wife, two sons and one daughter.
The funeral will be held at Edmonton Tuesday.
