     Ernest was born on 16 July 1857 in Germany.1 Ernest married Matilda Ristow before 1883.1,2
     His name was also recorded as Ernest Weber.3 Ernest Webber and Matilda Ristow immigrated in 1880 to Canada from Germany.1 Ernest Webber of Hagarty township was listed as a witness to the marriage of William F Ristaw and Maria R Summach on 22 March 1882.4 Ernest Webber was the informant on the death registration of his daughter, Caroline Webber.5
     In the obituary of John Webber who died 24 April 1914, John's father, Ernest Weber was listed as a survivor.6 He was a witness After both of their parents died of the flu in November 1918, Edith looked after Mabel and Ethel Weber until their grandfather Ernest Weber and his brother-in-law, Charles Ristow came from Ontario to pick them up. Edith accompanied them back to Renfrew County where they were raised by Ernest and his wife, Matilda.7

     William Boehme was also known as William Boeheme Mayflower web page.5 William Boehme was also known as William Boehm Reflections of a Century.2 He witnessed the Bio_me of Robert Pachal on 12 November 1912; Robert was taking the body of his brother-in-law, John Herman Brown, home to Fort Stewart, Ontario for burial. John had died of an accidental gunshot wound while hunting near Yorkton, Saskatchewan. A councilman from Combermere, William Boehme persuaded the captain of the Mayflower to make one more run from Barry's Bay to Combermere before putting up the steamer for the winter. During this trip, the Mayflower sank in a matter of seconds, taking nine (9) lives, including Robert.

Four passengers survived the sinking by clinging to the crude wooden box containing his coffin. They were:
- Joe Harper
- John Imlach
- Gordon Peverly
- John Patrick O’Brien (59), died of hypothermia after reaching Gull Island

They reached Gull island, a small rocky island, after several hours in the frigid water and the three survivors were rescued nearly 24 hours later.

This incident was featured in Ripley's Believe It Or Not, as well as in Peter Unwin's book, "Canadian Folk: Portraits of Remarkable Lives"
