He was born on 12 October 1860 at Clarke Twp., Durham County, Ontario, Canada.1,2,3,4,5,10,8,9 Alternatively, he may have been born in October 1862 at Ontario, Canada, in the 1911 census but this is obviously incorrect since he was enumerated in the 1861 census.11 David married Elizabeth Ham on 24 February 1886 at Orono, Clarke Twp., Durham County, Ontario, Canada.7,2,3,11
David Moffatt died on 6 March 1935 at 208 Athol Street, Oshawa, East Whitby Twp., Ontario County, Ontario, Canada, at age 74 according to Ontario Death Registration 025971. The informant was M Moffatt.1 The cause of his death was given as a carcenoma of the ascending colon.1
David Moffatt was buried on 8 March 1935 at Union Cemetery, Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.1

David and Bessie Moffatt appeared on the 1901 Canadian Census of Oshawa, East Whitby Twp., Ontario County, Ontario, enumerated 31 March 1901, described as a Methodist and a Machinist. Their children: Edna and Leta, were listed as living with them.3
David and Bessie Moffat appeared on the 1911 Canadian Census of Oshawa, Ontario County, Ontario, Albert Street, enumerated 5 June 1911. David was described as a woodworker (I think) in a factory. Their children Edna, Leta, Meredith and Orma were listed as living with them. He and Bessie are enumerated on the last two lines of a page, with ditto marks under and earlier line with an illegible street address that is not Albert Street. The children are at the top of the next enueration sheet with an Albert Street address.11 He lived at 20 Albert Street, Oshawa, East Whitby Twp., Ontario County, Ontario, Canada, in 1921 occupation given as mach Chev, so he was a machinist, possibly at the Chevrolet factory in Oshawa.12
David and Bessie Moffat appeared on the 1921 Canadian Census of Oshawa, East Whitby Twp., Ontario County, Ontario, 20 Albert Street, enumerated 1 June 1921.
