He was born on 22 July 1835 at Cottbus, Brandenburg, Prussia/Preußen (modern Germany).11 Alternatively, he may have been born on 22 June 1835 at Heinersbrück, Spree-Neiße, Brandenburg, Prussia/Preußen (modern Germany), according to transcriptions of his grave marker.6,12,13,10,9,14,15,16,17 Mathes married Anna Hühnchen on 17 October 1857 at Groß Lieskow, Cottbus, Brandenburg, Prussia/Preußen (modern Germany).18,17,19 Matthew married Wilhelmina Schilka in July 1870, although I am no longer sure where I got this date.20,14,21,22,15,16
Matthias Noack died on 13 January 1900 at Hagarty Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada, at age 64 according to Ontario Death Registration 023146. This registration indicates he was single, a farmer and born in Hagarty township. His second wife was still living; so, did "single" indicate he was divorced? Also, he was born in Germany, not Hagarty.23 The cause of his death was given as heart failure.23 The informant on his death registration was his son, Mat Noack.23 Alternatively, he died on 15 January 1900 at Killaloe Station, Hagarty Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada, at age 64 according to his gravestone.10,12,24,13
His name was recorded as Matthaeus Noak on his birth registration.11
The following information is from my personal research:
The municiplaity of Groß (Great) Lieskow was largely a Sorbian speaking community at the time of the marriage of Mathes Noack and Anna Hühnchen. In 1985 to 1986 the area was dredged as part of the Cottbus North open pit mine.25

Church records list Matthes Noack as the father of Marie Noack who was born on 22 February 1858.26 Mathes Noack and Anna Noack were included on a passenger manifest on the "Mathilde" bound for Québec City dated 31 March 1862 Port of Hamburg, Hamburg, German Confederation (modern Germany), accompanied by their children Maria and Hans. Their residence had been at Heinersbrük(?), Preußen/Prussia (Germany). His occupation was arbeiter or worker (probably a labourer.) The Port of Hamburg is on the river Elbe, about 68 miles from its mouth on the North Sea. At the time of their departure, it was a sovereign state within the Confederation of Germany.6,27
Matth and Mena Noark (sic) appeared on the 1871 Canadian Census of Grattan Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, enumerated 2 April 1871. Matth was described as described as a Farmer and a Wesleyan Methodist. Their children, Mary, John, Frederic and Bertha, were listed as living with them. According to other sources, Mena was the step-mother of Mary, John and Frederic.16
Matthias Noack was recorded as father of the bride at the marriage of August Summach and Maria Noack on 21 November 1877.28
Mathias and Mena Noak appeared on the 1881 Canadian Census of Hagarty & Jones Twps., Renfrew County, Ontario, enumerated 4 April 1881. Mathias was described as a Farmer and a Methodist. Their children, John, Fredrick, Bertha, Albert, Mathias, William, Augast and Mena, were listed as living with them. Aain, according to other sources, Mena was the step-mother of John and Fredrick.15
Mathias and Mena Noak appeared on the 1891 Canadian Census of Hagarty & Jones Twps., Renfrew County, Ontario, enumerated 16 April 1891. Mathias was described as a farmer and a Methodist. Their children, Bertha, Albert, Mathias, William, August, Mena, Emma and Lena, were listed as living with them.14
     Research notes:
Two of Janet Brown's sources referred to Bertha Schilke as a wife of Matthew Noack. However, evidence is required to support this. On Feb 15, 2001 she wrote "there is no mention of "Bertha Schilke" so I am taking her out of my tree altogether, until I find further information on her. My dad could have very well been mistaken by her first name and it could have been Wilhelmina Schilka, but his brother, Rueben gave the same information to his son, so I am just putting Bertha on the back burner, so to speak, for now."29,30

In the obituary of Lena Noack who died 16 October 1918, his father, Matthew Noack was listed as predeceased.7,31 In the death registration of Bertha Noack who died on 24 May 1927, Matthew Noack was identified as her father.32
In the obituary of Bertha Noack who died 24 May 1927, her father, Matthew Noack was listed as predeceased.33
     Research notes (August 2018):
Ancestry has new databases of German records. Need to update this family.34

The Genweb transcriptions and photos for the Killaloe Cemetery do not include grave markers for Matthew and Emma Noack. There is one for Matthew C. Noack but another researcher locates his marker at Tavistock.34
The following analysis is from my personal research and reflects my attempts to consolidate information from different sources.
There does not appear to be an Ontario Marriage registration for Matthew (Matthias) Noack and Minnie Shilka. However, their first child, Bertha, was born in about 1868, either in Germany (if the year of immigration (1870) in the 1901 census is accurate) or in Ontario (as stated on Bertha's 1927 death registration.) Either they were married in Germany prior to an 1870 immigration, or they were married in Ontario prior to the start of marriage registration records in 1868.
In January 1900, Mat Noack Jr. registered the death of his father, Matthias Noack, a "single" farmer.
In the 1901 census, Minnie Noack was enumerated as the head of her household, a widow and a farmer. Martin, not Matthew, was listed in her household, but his birth date is consistent with Matthew's.
In October 1918, Matthew Noack registered the death of Wilimena (sic) Shilka, a widowed farmer's wife.
An index of "The Arnprior Watchman" (with no digital copy availalbe) indicates that "Mrs. Matthew Noack of Killaloe. Of pneumonia. ( WM Oct. 18, 1918, p. 3 )". This is consistent with the cause of death given in the above death registration. My conclusion is that they were married and that I think I have recorded their family accurately.34
