     Stephen was born on 26 October 1888 in Georgetown, British GuianaG. He was born in Demarea, S America according to his WWI resgistration.2,1 Stephen married Alice Louise Denzin before 1911.2,3 He died on 17 February 1961 in Saskatchewan, CanadaG, at age 72. |probably in Regina.2,1
     The following information is extracted from his obituary. Survivor(s): Eva Grace Bateman. Predeceased: Alice Denzin.1 Stephen Edgar Main was buried on 21 February 1961 in Regina Memorial Gardens, Regina, Saskatchewan, CanadaG.4,1

     He immigrated in 1904 to Tregarva, RM of Lumsden No. 189, Saskatchewan, CanadaG, from England.1
Canadian Military Service:
     Stephen Edgar Main began military service on 18 December 1915 in Regina, Saskatchewan, CanadaG. His residence at the time of enlistment was Silton, Saskatchewan where he worked as a butcher. He enlisted in the 68th Overseas Battalion. In his discharge papers his occupation was listed as a farmer.. He listed his next-of-kin as Alice Main on his Attestation (enlistment) papers.2 In June 1916, he was buried by a shell explosion and unconscious for 10 or 15 minutes. He was bed ridden for a week, and returned to service about 4 weeks later. He later "went over the top" with a machine gun detachment.2 On 15 August 1917 in Hill 70, Lens, FranceG, he received gun shot wounds in his shoulder and neck. He suffered partial paralysis on his right side for over a month. He was invalided to Canada on Nov 19, 1917 and was in a Winnipeg hospital for two years after that.2,1 Stephen Edgar Main ended military service on 28 September 1918 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, CanadaG, after being wounded the second time, he was medically unfit for further war service. He had served in the 68th Battalion, the 15th Reserve Battalion and the 5th Battalion. He received one Gold Bar for his service..

     The following information is extracted from her obituary. Survivor(s): John H Runtz.2 She died on 29 March 1947 in 25 Alicia St, Arnprior, Renfrew County, Ontario, CanadaG.1 Louisa Augusta Scheel was buried on 31 March 1947 in Albert Street Cemetery - Block J, Arnprior, McNab Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, CanadaG.1,2

     Her name was also recorded as Louisa G Scheel on her marriage registration.3 She was listed as a witness to the marriage of August E Scheel and Annie Louisa Scheel on 5 November 1902 in Arnprior, Renfrew County, Ontario, CanadaG; according to Ontario Marriage Registration 015244.5
     The following obituary appeared in the newspaper the Ottawa Journal published in Ottawa, Ontario 31 March 1947:
Runtz, Louisa Augusta
On Saturday, March 29, 1947, at her home 25 Alicia St., Arnprior, Louisa Augusta Scheel, wife of Mr. John H. Runtz, age 62 years. Resting at above address. Funeral service at Pentecostal Church, Monday, 2:30 p.m. Interment Arnprior cemetery.2
