     His name was also recorded as James Smith.5,3
     Note regarding Edward Smith: World Family Tree Download -- v51t2403.FTW from Michael Peacock identifies the father of James Smith, spouse of Jane Langdale as Edward Smith.      She was born on 14 October 1846 at Germany according to the 1901 census.2,3,4 Alternatively, she may have been born circa 1849 at Germany since she was age 42 in 1891 census.5 Dorathay married Carl August Potter before 1870.6,2,3,7

     Her name was also recorded as Dorothea Neiman according to the birth registrations of her daughter Anna.8,9
     She was commonly known as Dora Potter10,3,7 ; and, Dorothea Newman according to the birth registrations of her children William and Mary.8,11,12 Dorathay and Carl August Potter immigrated in 1876 to Canada from Germany, according to the 1901 census, but their son Chraales was born in Ontario in 1870 according to other sources.2
     Dora Potter and Carl August Potter were included in a circa 1878 photograph with Charles Potter, Alex Potter and Sophia Potter(see below.)13

     Charlis and Dora Potter appeared on the 1891 Canadian Census of Brudenell Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, enumerated 13 April 1891. Charlis was described as a Baptist and a Storekeeper. Their children, Charlis, Alix, Sophia, William, Mary and Anna Carolina, were listed as living with them.7
     Charles and Dora Shalet Potter appeared on the 1901 Canadian Census of Brudenell & Lyndoch Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, enumerated 31 March 1901, described as Church of England and a farmer. Their children: Alex and Annie, were listed as living with them.2
