Think they initially settled in Osceola ON, and then moved to Killaloe (Hagarty Township). This is based upon them naming one son Karl Osceola and another Frederick Hagarty.31
The following information is from my personal research:
The book "Harvest of Stones" tells about an early practice where elderly parents would give over their property to a son or daughter, in return for board and room, as well as other considerations.
I have wondered if Carl, Sr. did this with his son Carl and his wife, Maggie.
This might explain why in 1901, after Carl, Jr's accidental death, Carl, Sr. was living with Maggie and her second husband. Perhaps she continued to honor the obligation.
He may even have picked up part of the workload until she remarried.32

The Copernicus made several runs between Hamburg and Quebec City, and was owned by the Hamburg-America Line. Research notes (September 2018):
On John Hector's marriage registration, his mother's name was not given. Was Wilhelmina Gienow not his biological mother?28
The following information is from my personal research, September 2018:
Curiously, I have been unable to find a death registration for her. My only source for her death is a reference in an Ontario Genealogical Society transcription of the Immanuel Baptist Cemetery that also includes transcriptions from the First Baptist Church register. This is the "Stone" church just up the road from the cemetery in what was know as Germantown. The register included her date of death and I think it mentioned an unmarked grave. I wonder why there are no other records?29

The last digit has been over-written and is open to interpretation. However, they are listed as witnesses on the next marriage in 1884, and do not have the same surname, so they must have married in 1885. In addition, their ages are both given as 21, consistent with an 1885 marriage.

Other information from their marriage registration:
