Joseph Mayhew is referenced in my analysis of Peter Mayhew in 2000; According to the book "The Story of Renfrew,
     " between 1840 and 1848, Charles, Joseph and Edward Mayhew were living between Thomson's Hill and the village of Renfrew, on the south side of the Creek. Peter Mayhew and Nulbeir Jourdain lived on the west side of the village. It is feasible that all four were brothers although I have not identified where Edward fits in, and since Peter married Sophie Jourdain it is again feasible that this is the same Peter Mayhew.
     Assume Peter Mayo born about 1823, spouse of Sophia Jourdain is the same person as Peter Mayhew, born about 1823, who was a widower at the time of the 1881 census. Baptist Jordon was enumerated with his family. Both had a daughter Elizabeth born about 1873. Other children's names also contribute to this assumption.²⁴
