On Clifton Avenue Student Is Cited On Charge Of Reckless Driving.
Mrs. Margaret Wallace, 48, 260 Ludlow Ave., was Injured seriously and Robert H. Langdale, 36, 3405 Telford Ave, a Seabee, suffered a leg fracture and other injuries early yesterday when they were truck by an automobile driven by Edwin S. Becker, 23, a University of Cincinnati College of Law student, at Clifton and Ludlow Avenues.
Becker, a son of Edwin G. Becker, Dana Ave. and Victory Pwky., attorney and member of the Board of Education, was charged with reckless driving and operating a vehicle with defective brakes.
Safety Patrolmen Albert White, Elsworth Greiner and Robert Wietlesbach said Mrs. Wallace, a divorcee, was thrown 10 feet and that Langdale was hurled 25 feet. P[hys]icians at Good Samaritan Hospital said Mrs. Wallace suffered a compound fracture of her left leg, right leg fracture and possible skull fracture.
Becker denied the police charge that he skidded his wheels after the couple was hit. He said he stopped immediately when he saw the couple step In front of his car.
With Becker at the time of the accident were Peter Outcalt, 6247 Orchard Ln; Robert Weasel, 2152 Alpine Pl., and Miss Audrey Holzer, 6141 Fairway Ave., all UC students. Police said Becker and his companions stood In the street for more than 30 minutes, directing other traffic around the injured couple as they lay in the street, before a citizen asked Capt. Elmer Enders, Engine Co. 34, across the street from the accident, to summon aid.9

Henry William Kuehl of Asquith was conscripted on 6 June 1918 at Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, joining the 1st Depot Battalion, Saskatchewan Regiment. He gave his occupation as a farmer. He was described as being 6' with blue eyes, light brown hair and a sallow complexion. On his conscription papers he listed his next-of-kin as his father, August Kuehl of Killaloe P.O. RR#1, Ont. He was assigned regimental number 277060.1
On 28 July 1918, at Montréal, Québec, Canada, he embarked overseas and arrived at Liverpool on Aug. 15th. On Sep 28, 1918 he was hospitalized with influenza and was not discharged until Oct 11th.1 Henry William Kuehl ended military service as part of general demobilization on 20 September 1919 at Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, intending to return to Asquith. He had served with the C.A.M.C..
