FRANK FULLER HIGHWAY BOSS
One of the substantial and respected citizens of the community is Frank Fuller, its veteran highway commissioner who has been in charge of the roads of this township for the past 33 years.
Born i and reared in this immediate vicinity Mr. Fuller has seen this city progress from a tiny straggling village to the present metropolitan center and has had an important part in the development of the community by virtue of the fact that he has been intimately concerned for more than a score and a half of years in seeing to it that the fine road system, which means so much to the prosperity of the city was developed and maintained.
Frank Fuller was born on the Fuller home farm, just a short mile south east of the limits of limits of the i DeKalb of the. present on September 22, 1856. At that time this community was Buena Vista and it was not much of a vista at that.
There were a few frame structures at intervals along the road which was the main artery of traffic through the community. This road was dignified by the name because there were teams on it, if had not other merit as a thoroughfare but at times of the slightest moisture was mostly a quagmire.
He was the son of William and Eleanor Fuller, pioneer residents. He received a common school education in the country schools of that day and spent his early years working on the farm where he remained until he moved to DeKalb in 1903.
He was elected to the position of road commissioner in 1890. At that time the practice was to have three Commissioners from each township. Later several years ago when the law was changed and, -procedure so that this township had but one commissioner he was chosen for that office and has served ever since as the sole executive in the township road department.
He was married some 48 years ago to Miss Irene Renwick. She died in 1901 and Mr. Fuller remained a widower until 1912 when he married, Miss Amelia Garner. Mr (Photo by Natusch FRANK FULLER Veteran Highway Commissioner of DeKalb Township) Fuller has ten children living, They are: Mrs.,R. B. Newcomer, Mrs. Wyllys Cross, Mrs. G. Gustafson, Vincent FulIer, Mrs. Pearl McQuire (sic), Mrs. Fred Barickman, Mrs. Roy Latimer, Mrs. Russel Pyper, Mrs. Clayton Phelps and Mrs. Al Stone.
Mr. Fuller has always been hale. and vigorous up to the past few months when he had a spell of rheumatism but he is again about on the streets, apparently as active as ever.11

What Leap Year Has Done
About a year ago the CHRONICLE published a list of leap year elegibles and many of the young men in the list have succumbed ot the pleadings of the fairer sex and during the year have become benedicts. The following is a list of what cupid with his bow and arrow and the young woman wiht her "Will-you-be-mine" questions has accomplished in matrimonial matters and the unions they are responsible for:
...Chas. Sagle and Anna Riddell...
All these young men started out at the beginning of '96 with a strong determination that they would not allow the hypnotic powers of any young lady have such an effect upon them that they would procure a license but their failures to carry out this determination are fully proven by the simple facts of the case.
There are, however, many marketable men who have stood the assults bravely and we think it safe to say will manage matters to suit themselves this year. They evidently had not been taught by their mother;s to wait until they were asked and will take charge of the offensive rather than the defensive part of the operations during the year 1897.
These statements with more truth than poetry are what some of them have already begun to do:
J. J. Helming who deals in clothing.
Down Sixth street is often seen roving...
Frank Riddell goes to Chicago each day,
But what happens in there we cannot say...4
