Guy Sivwright Maitland, of Chicago, registered for the draft on 12 September 1918 at Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA, at the age of 34. He reported that he was an unemployed chauffer. He listed his next-of-kin/contact person as his wife, Marie Maitland. He was described as medium hiehgt and build with gray eyes and dark brown hair.1
Guy S. and Marie A. Maitland appeared on the 1920 U.S. Federal Census of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, enumerated 2 January 1920, described as a chauffer for a cab company. Their children: Louella M., were listed as living with them.5

The following information is from my personal research at the book Past and Present of DeKalb County, Illinois recorded in Chicago, Illinois, 1907:
A long time resident of DeKalb County, George M. Sivwright came to the county when he was 7 years old. On Jan 1, 1860 he married Maria Louise Fairclo in Kingston, DeKalb County. Their only child, Guy T. Sivwright was born August 30, 1861. In the fall of 1883 he was injured in an accident on a skating rink, resulting in a spinal abcess. He died on June 15 of the following year.
Conclusion
Robert Maitland and his first wife must have been related to or at least knew and respected Guy, for they appear to have named their son Guy Sivwright Maitland after him. Their son was either born Nov. 23, 1883 around the time of the accident, or in Nov. 1884, after Guy T. Sivwright's death.9
