Survivor(s): Glenn Junop, June Junop, Richard Junop and Robert Junop. Predeceased: Lillian Junop, Violola Junop and Malcolm Russell Junop.7

Samuel Junop was buried on 6 June 1985 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.7
     Asquith and District Honour Roll:
"Junop, Lan (sic)" of Delisle P.O..
Family Background:
Christie and Hannah Junop raised their family in Renfrew County, Ontario. Two of their sons, August and Sam came west to the Asquith district to farm. August was in the area at the time of the 1911 census, but apparently returned home. Local histories tell of his coming back on the C.N.R. in 1912. Sam followed in 1913.
Other comments:
Sam Junop is another of the early Asquith area settlers to come from Renfrew County in Ontario. He was conscripted late in the war and had not left Canada by the time of his demobilzation.12
Canadian Military Service - WWI

Samuel Junop of Delisle Post Office was conscripted on 27 June 1918 at Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, joining the 1st Depot Battalion, Saskatchewan Regiment. At the time of his military medical on 30 Oct 1917, he was an unmarried farmer with no militaty experience. It appears this was still accurate in June whenhe was called up. There is nothing in his service file indicating he requested permission to marry, or that he was married.. He was described as being 5' 6 1/2" with a fair complexion, blue eyes and dark hair. On his conscription papers he listed his next-of-kin as his father, Christopher Junop of Rosenthal P.O., Renfrew County, Ontario. He was assigned regimental number 3353524.4 Pte. Samuel Junop ended military service as part of general demobilization on 18 February 1919 at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada,
End of WWI Military Service section.4

He was commonly known as Sam Junop.
Samuel Yunop appeared on the 1901 Canadian Census of Raglan & Radcliffe Twps., Renfrew County, Ontario in the household of his parents, Christy and Louise Yunop.6
In May 1913,Samuel moved from Ontario to the Asquith area.
Sam Junip and Lillian Junip appeared on the 1921 Canadian Census of RM of Loganton, Saskatchewan, enumerated 1 June 1921, described as described as a farmer. Their son Matcholm was listed as living with them.9
Sam Junop and family attended the Rosenthal School Pals Reunion.
On Dominion Day (July 1) in 1931, August and Minnie Summach hosted a reunion of local families in which at least one of the parents had attended Rosenthal school in Renfrew County, Ontario. A photographer from Saskatoon took a panoramic photograph of about 14 families and other guests.13,14
