Mildred Adeline Rutledge
It is with deep sadness and sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of our much beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Sunday, March 6th, 2005 at St. Paul's Hospital with her grandson David by her side. Mom was born November 22nd, 1918 on the family farm near Delisle, Saskatchewan. She attended Saskatoon Normal School from 1939 to 1940 and taught at Laurel and Avondale prior to her marriage to James Rutledge in 1942. The family moved to Saskatoon in 1948. Mom resumed teaching in 1958, and taught at Thornton, Buena Vista, Queen Elizabeth and Lorne Haselton. She retired in 1982. She enjoyed her profession where each student was special to her and she is still fondly remembered by them. Mildred was predeceased by her beloved parents, Charles (August) and Caroline Junop; husband James; brother, Arden; sister, Marguerite Chovin and grandson Kurt Rutledge. She is survived by her children, Bill and Linda; grandchildren, David Rutledge, Rod Haitel and Ghislaine Haitel (Paul); great-grandchildren, Kelti and Leini Thompson, brothers, Bill (Peggy) Junop and Jack (Elizabeth) Junop, sisters, Winnifred Kielo and Lorena Douglas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mom enjoyed baking, looking after her home, caring for her children and grandchildren, and having family gatherings. Mom was a perfectionist in all pursuits and took pride in her appearance. She touched the lives of all that she met. The family would like to thank "We Care" for the kindness and respect shown Mom, and the nurses on 5th floor Medical, St. Paul's Hospital for their excellent care given during her brief stay. The Funeral Service will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home (East on 8th Street turn right before the railway tracks) on Thursday, March 10th, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Dale Morrison officiating. Interment to follow the service in The Garden of the Old Rugged Cross at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be emailed to hillcresst@arbormemorial.com.
