Ivan Edgar Schimmens was buried on 18 April 2005 at St. Patrick's Anglican Cemetery, Stafford Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada. Note that the funeral home version of his obituary states that he would be buried "later in the United Cemetery, Lower Stafford.4
The following article appeared in the Ottawa, Ontario The Ottawa Citizen, 25 July 1939 :
Take Open Safety Pin From Throat of Baby
     Special to The Citizen
PEMBROKE, July 24.--It was learned here today that Ivan Schimmens, 14-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Schimmens, 217 Margaret street, had an open safety pin removed from his throat in the Ottawa Civic Hospital. The child apparently swallowed the pin several days ago but it was only Saturday that the parents took him to Dr. W. L. Higginson, presumably suffering from a sore throat. An X-ray examination here revealed the pin in the baby's throat and the parents took him at once to Ottawa, where an operation was performed by Dr. Reginald Delahay.3
His son, Ivan Schimmens was listed as a survivor in the obituary of Myrtle Viola Rubina Schimmens which printed 16 June 2004.5
