Getz
our brother Herbert John Getz, son of our brother Friedrich Getz, was born on 17th January 1910 in Killaloe, Ont. At the age of 13 he became a believer in Jesus and was baptised by the undersigned and added to the congregation. In the bloom of youth he was called from this life on 20th April 1926, after a short but severe time of suffering, aged 16 years, 3 months and 3 days. The cause of his such rapid death was peritonitis. With exceptional resignation to the Lord's will, he went home believing in his Redeemer, after making it known that he was ready to meet his Master. His grieving parents, 6 biological brothers, and a large circle of relatives and friends find comfort in the certainty of meeting again in the heavenly home, where no pain of separation will cloud the eye. Brother August Getz, grandfather of the deceased, and the undersigned spoke words of comfort and encouragement at the funeral service.

Death of Herbert John Getz
Another death took place in this community on Tuesday of last week (April 20) when a highly respected young man passed away in the person of Herbert John Getz, third son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Getz. The deceased was 16 years 3 months and 3 days old at the time of his death. The late Herbert Getz had only been seriously ill five days preceding his death. He was born in the Township of Hagarty on January 17, 1910, and started out to follow Christ in early youth. When death came at 15 minutes to nine on Tuesday evening he was ready and willing to go.
He leaves to mourn his father and mother and six brothers, Norman, Percy, Lorenz, Charlie, Wilmer and Carson, and many friends. The funeral on Saturday afternoon from his late home which is in the Baptist Settlement south west of Killaloe, was very largely attended by the people of that section and surrounding country. The remains were conveyed to German Baptist Church where a large crowd gathered and a fine funeral sermon was delivered Rev. Peters conducting the services, after which the remains were taken to the Baptist cemetery and interred. The pall-bearers were Messrs. Fred Krantz, Fred Getz, Gordon Felhaber, Allan Potter, Norman Getz and George Krantz. The out of town visitors who attended the funeral of the late Herbert Getz were: Mrs. William Ristow, Sr., from the Prairie Province, grandmother of the deceased, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Felhaber and family, of Pembroke; Mrs. Carl Laymann, of Golden Lake, and Mr. Herman Getz and son Edgar, of Letter-Kenney (sic). Mr. Fred Krantz, of Deacon, spent the weekend in town.10
