     Thomas W. and Mary Douglass appeared on the 1900 U.S. Federal Census of Grove City, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, enumerated 8 June 1900, described as a cleryman. Their children: Charles E and Ada G., were listed as living with them. They had been married for 27 years. Their household included his father, Samuel Douglass.1
     Thomas W. Douglass was a survivor of his wife Mary who died circa 1906.2

Closes Ministry of 45 Years And Goes From Edenburg to Franklin
Rev. T. W. Douglas who has been pastor of the Edenburg M. E. church for the past two years, closes a ministry of 45 years this week, and is moving with Mrs. Douglas to their new home In Franklin, Pa. In honor of Rev. Douglas members of the Edenburg congregation gave a farewell reception in the church last night, with almost the entire church membership present, in spite of the rain.

The affair was arranged by the Queen Esther society who also prepared an interesting program of vocal and instrumental music and recitations, Misses Adda and Alice Coates, Miss Charlotte Webb anil the Queen Esther Chorus, with the addition of some of the boys of the village, furnished a delightful entertainment.

C. S. McCullough representing the congregation, presented Rev. Douglas with a purse of 45 silver dollars, one of each of the 45 years of hie ministry. A cake was presented to Rev. and Mrs. Douglas. Rev. Douglas responded to the speech with appropriate remarks.

A social time followed the program, and refreshments were served.
Rev. Cousins, the new pastor of the church comes from New Jersey and will take up his charge here next Sunday.7

     The following obituary appeared in the newspaper the News-Herald published in Franklin, Pennsylvania 6 November 1926:
REV. DOUGLAS DIES AFTER A LONG ILLNESS
     Served as Minister for 44 Years--Had Splendid Record in Civil War--Taught School for Two Years in Oil City.
INVALID FOR MANY MONTHS
     Rev. Dr. T. W. Douglas, a retired minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, died at his home at 519 Grant street at 12:30 o'clock Saturday morning, after an Illness of more than a year. He had been an invalid for several years.
     Rev. Douglas was born at Harlansburg, near New Castle, on August 26, 1842. He attended the New Castle public schools and was graduated from the New Castle High School. Later he was graduated from the Edinboro State Normal School, and attended for a year Ohio Wesleyan University. He then located in Oil City, where he was employed as a teacher in the public schools and was principal of the South Side schools for a period of two years.
     He was licensed to preach in 1873, and was admitted as a minister on trial In 1874. In 1876 he obtained full ministerial connection with the church and was ordained as a deacon by Bishop Peck. In 1878 he became an elder under Bishop Gilbert Haven, of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
     Beginning his pastorate In 1874, at Linesville, he continued as an active minister until 1918, retiring while at Edenburg, Lawrence county. He served one year at Linesville and from 1876 to 1878 was pastor of the Sunville church, going from there to Albion, where he served from 1879 to 1881.
     He was pastor at Harmonsburg for one year In 1892. From there he went, to Spartansburg, serving for two years. From 1886 to 1890 he preached in Youngsville and from 1S91 to 1892 In Little Valley, N. Y. In 1893 lie went to Conneautvllle, where he served until 1895. He took up the pastorate at the Punxsutawney church in 1896 and served until 1897, going from there to Grove City, where he served until 1903.
     From 1904 for one year he served [the] New Castle (Mahoning church) and then preached In churches in the New Castle district from 1906 to 1912. In 1913 he went to Cambridge Springs " and served for one year, and was pastor at the South Dayton, N. Y., church for a similar period. He entered his last pastorate in 1917, in Edenburg, and in 1918 retired and removed to - Franklin, where he since resided.
     Served with Roundheads Regiment.
     Rev. Douglas was a Civil War veteran, having served for four years in the Union army as a member of the famous Roundheads and when discharged discharged was a Lieutenant. He was a member of Mays Post. No 220 G.A R. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Lodge of Perfection, and of the Pittsburgh Consistory.
     Rev. Douglas was twice married. His first wife was Miss Mary Emery, whom he married in 1872. Her death occurred occurred 20 years ago at the home of her sister, Mrs. Dr. J. R. Borland, and her remains were interred In the Franklin cemetery.
     In June, 1909, he was united in marriage to Miss Frances Grove, who for many years was a teacher in the Oil City schools. To his first wife were born three children, the eldest of whom, Mrs. P. P. Long, died several years ago, and Charles E. Douglas, who is city manager of Dubuque, Iowa, and Mrs. Samuel Hemphill, of Uniontown, Pa. Five grandchildren also survive.
     Rev. Douglas was a man of splendid character, served faithfully and well in all his pastorates, had a fine war record, and was held In high esteem wherever he resided. He possessed all the qualifications of a great and good citizen.
     The funeral services will be conducted in the First Methodist Episcopal church at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, with Rev. Dr. Norris A. White officiating. The body will be taken to the church at 12 o'clock noon on Monday. Interment will be in the Franklin cemetery.
     A number of ministers in this section with whom Rev. Douglas became associated during his numerous pastorates, re expected to attend the services.2


     In the obituary of Frances Douglas who died 9 August 1943, her husband, Rev. Dr. T. W. Douglas was listed as predeceased.4
     Thomas W. Douglas (sic) was identified as the father of Ada G. Hemphill in Ada's obituary after her death on 18 June 1945.8

Miss Kathryn Glass, Who Departed from Sedalia Last Night.
Miss Kathryn Glass, who for nine years has made her home, with her cousin, Mr. Jas. Glass, at his commodious residence, corner of Seventh and Osage streets, left Saturday night for her old home, Owen Sound. Ontario, says Rosa Pearle's Paper.

Her little nephew,Bert Crosskill, accompanied her. Shortly after reaching Owen Sound, Miss Glass will be married to Mr. John Reynolds, of Manitowaning, Ont., the ceremony being performed by Rev. Mulholland, of the Episcopal church, of which the bride-to-be was a former member.

The couple will then go to Manitowaning, where Mr. Reynolds, who has long been known to Miss Glass, is a prominent and prosperous resident. During her stay here she has, by her many admirable traits of character, made is large circle of friends, who, while regretting her permanent residence elsewhere, will yet wish for her in her new relation all the happiness and prosperity which life affords.2
