     Augst and Sofia Getz appeared on the 1901 Canadian Census of Hagarty Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, enumerated 31 March 1901, described as a farmer and a Baptist. Their children: William, Fred, Minnie, Tena and John, were listed as living with them.9 August Getz was the informant on the death registration of his wife, Doherty Sophia Virch, who died on 24 November 1915.11 Rev. August Getz was the officiating minister at the burial of Godfrey Yourt on 13 March 1931 at Golden Lake United Cemetery (AKA St. John's United Church Cemetery), Golden Lake, Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada.12,13,14,15,16,17
     The funeral service of August Getz was held 16 March 1937 . The active pallbearers were: Edgar Getz, L Goetz, Mervin Goetz, George Krantz and Fred Goetz
     Allan Patter (sic) may have been his grandson, the son of Alex Potter and his daughter Tena.5
     The following obituary appeared in an unannotated newspaper clipping after 16 March 1937 :
Mr. August Goetz
     The death occurred Sunday morning of August Goetz at his home in Killaloe. Mr. Goetz had been in failing health for the past month. Born in 1851 in Pommern, Germany, Mr. Goetz came to Canada in 1872 and settled in the vicinity of Killaloe. The same year he married Miss Gustava Albrecht. To them were born eight children.His wife died fifteen years ago, following the marriage in 1888 and he then married Miss Sophial Verch, who died 27 years later. Several years later he married Rs. Mary Eckel, who survives him. Some 30 years ago he and his wife retired to live in Killaloe with his, (sic) John Goetz. Mr. Goetz had been a faithful member of the Evangelical Church. For 25 years he was deacon in the Baptist Church at Killaloe and for the past 21 years he had been a local preacher in the Evangelical Church at Killaloe. He was also interested in the Sunday School, of which he was superintendent for 25 years. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 from his late residence to the Baptist Church in Old Killaloe and thence to the Baptist cemetery. Rev. G. L. Gross conducted the service, assisted by Rev. L. H. Pletch and Rev. Rev. J. S. Burn of Pembroke, Rev. A. Dahms of Arnprior and Mr. John Draves of Palmer Rapids. Surviving are his wife, three sons and three daughters, Herman, Fred and John Goetz of Killaloe; Mrs. Nicholas Kranz, Mrs. Kasten and Mrs. Alex. Potter, 43 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and a host of friends. Pall bearers were Edgar Goetz, L. Goetz, Allan Patter, Mervin Goetz, George Krantz and Fred Goetz of Killaloe.5

     She was born circa 10 January 1846 at Germany age 42 at the time of her marriage and died at the age of 69 years, 10 months and 14 days.2 Alternatively, she may have been born on 8 January 1847 at Germany according to the 1901 census3; or, on 10 January 1851 at Germany according to her gravemarker.4,1,5 Alternatively, she may have been born circa 1858 at Germany since she gave her age as 33 in the 1891 census.6 Dorothea married August Getz on 13 October 1887 at Brudenell Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada, according to Ontario Marriage Registration 010845.4,2,1,6,3
     Dorothea Sophia Verch died on 24 November 1915 at Killaloe Station, Hagarty Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada, according to Ontario Death Registration 027818.4,7,5,1 The informant on her death registration was her husband, August Getz.7 The cause of her death was given as angina pectoris.7

Their children, Herman, William, Mary Ann, Frederick, Lena, Tena and John, were listed as living with them. As well as Frank Ferk
who I assume was his young brother-in-law.6
     Augst and Sofia Getz appeared on the 1901 Canadian Census of Hagarty Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, enumerated 31 March 1901, described as a farmer and a Baptist. Their children: William, Fred, Minnie, Tena and John, were listed as living with them.3
     In the obituary of August Goetz who died 14 March 1937, the former Sophia Verch Getz was listed as predeceased.8
