As Reported in their local newpaper.....
"On Sunday, October 12th Mr. and Mrs. Fred Yourth Sr. of Rosenthal celebrated their 50th anniversary at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Yourth Jr. [son and daughter-in-law]. The actual date of their wedding was October 7th, but a number of the family being unable to attend on that date, the 12th was chosen.
Mr. and Mrs. Yourth were married in Palmer Rapids in 1891. The ceremony was performed by the late Rev. R.G.G. Schmidt, pioneer Evangelical preacher.
The entire neighborhood joined with the family in rejoicing, to extend good wishes and express the desire that more years be added to the already three score and ten attained by the worthy couple. Mr. and Mrs. Yourth were the recipients of many beautiful gifts / the family giving them a purse of gold.
Mr. and Mrs. Yourth are both able to be up and doing, attending to their own household duties. Mrs. Yourt still spins yarn for her own use and keeps the family knitting up to date. She was the former Bertha Boehme.
The bridesmaid and groomsman, though both living were unable to attend the celebration. The bridesmaid was Annie Boehme, sister of Mrs. Yourth and Mr. William Pilgrim, of Rosenthal was the groomsman. They were later married and live at Powassan, Ont.
The presentation was made by Rev. W.A. Durst of Rosenthal, who delivered a very appropriate address. He mentioned the Evangelical church to which Mr. and Mrs. Yourth are faithful members; also celebrated it's 50th Young People's Association on the same date.
A very modern bride and groom were chosen to sit in the "circle of honor" with Mr. and Mrs. Yourth while members of the family sang the fitting hymn "Never Grow Old". Miss Carol Phannenhour, a granddaughter, the bride of four looked winsome in her dress of floor length satin, in white. Her veil daintily caught in a halo of orange blossoms. The groom was a friendly little neighbor boy, Vernon Hilderbrand.
Mr. and Mrs. Yourth were blessed with a family of 12 children. One son, John died in 1925. Those members unable to attend the celebration were Viola, Mrs. Thomas Taylor of Toronto, Louise, Mrs. John Pilgrim, Westfield, Mass. U.S.A., Mrs. James Smith, of Asquith, Sask.
Those attending were; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lidtkie [Sadie], their son Edwin and Miss Reed, all of Toronto; Mrs. John Walmsley [Emma] of Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. John Schroeder [Elva] and family, of Denbigh, Mr. and Mrs. Max Lidtkie [Annie] and family of Palmer Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. John Phannenhour [Bertha] and family; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Yourth of Rosenthal; Mr. and Mrs. William Yourth of Cobden; and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Yourth and family at home.
After the presentation, Mr. Yourth spoke a few words of thanks to their kind friends and the family. Group pictures were then taken. Lunch was served and those who could, spent the evening by the Yourth fireside. Others attended a sacred play staged by the Rockingham E.L.C.E. at Palmer Rapids in honor of it's 50th anniversary."
