The fatal accident also resulted in two other students losing their lives.
Ordinary (sic) they would have been on the school bus that Neale's brother Nelson was driving. But, they wanted to attend some activities after school that day, so they were driving to school instead of riding the bus. When Nelson Yourth, the bus driver, looked in his left view mirror, he noticed a car was pulling out from behind the bus to pass. He also saw the car that was approaching, it was about to be hit head on. He recognized this car, it was his brother, Neale driving home from work. He was killed instantly in the crash.
Three students that were in the car that was passing the bus. One was seriously injured, two male students were killed instantly.
No one in the school bus was injured. But all were in shock!

Neale's wife, Helen (Helena) passed away and not sure exactly where her remains are. She divorced from her second husband, and accordingly to her obituary that was in the Pembroke Observer, she used the surname Yourth. I think there is a possibility, that the three children she had with the second husband, the two sons might be using the Yourth name. I didn't get to attend her funeral, but some of my family did. I do keep in touch with Neale's children now and then. One daughter of his more so, because she is on the net.9

Mat and Bertha Yerk appeared on the 1901 Canadian Census of Hagarty Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, enumerated 31 March 1901, described as a Farmer and Evang(elical). Their children: Annie, Emmie, George, Albert, Julie and Martha, were listed as living with them.4 Mrs. M. Yourth was the informant on the death registration of her husband, Matthew Yourth, who died on 5 May 1928.20
Bertha appeared in the 1931 Canadian Census of Pembroke, Renfrew County, Ontario, in the household of Albert Yourth and Florence Yourth.5
In the obituary of George Yourth who died 13 July 1937, his mother, Mrs. Yourth, was listed as surviving him.21
The following obituary appeared in the newspaper the Renfrew Mercury published in Renfrew, Ontario 9 February 1939 :
Mrs. Matthew Yourth, who died in Pembroke at the home of a daughter, Mrs. J. T. Brash, in her 79th year, was born in Germany and came to Canada in her youth. She lived several years at Killaloe and at the time of her husband's death ten years ago went to Pembroke. There are one son and four daughters. Mrs. Gustave Kuno of Eganville is a sister.15
In the obituary of Annie Wilhelmiene Yourth who died 11 April 1946, her parents, Matthew Yourth and Mrs. Matthew Yourth were listed or implied as predeceased.22
The following biographical information was shared at an email from the late Jean Panke, 1 November 2003:
She (Grace (Lehman) Fancois) never knew her grandfather, Matthew. Her grandmother was Bertha Gutzeit. She thinks her grandfather may have been buried in Killaloe, but her grandmother moved to Pembroke after her husband died which makes it accurate in my opinion that she was buried in Pembroke.11

Research notes (March 2017):
The Catherine DESTIENER? name variant is not given for Christie's mother in the registration of his marriage to Mary Ashiak, so two factors may be at play: 1) his mother, Caroline may also have been known as Catherine, and 2) her maiden name may not have been Krieger as recorded in other sources.23
The following information is from my personal research, February 2018:
According to her son Fred, she died at the age 81 years, 25 days. This means that her birth date was Nov 27, 1837, not 1831 as recorded above. He did not provide names for her parents.
However, her Evangelical Messenger obituary index record indicates she died at the age of 87 years (not 81) and one month.18,8

Wedding is In Garden
Dorothy Longsdorff, S. A. I. Alumna, Is Bride of Oscar Nowlin
Dorothy Odessa Longsdorff, prominent member of Sigma Alpha Iota professional music sorority and the music supervisor of Monticello schools since her graduation from Milliken university five years ago, became the bride Saturday of Oscar J. R. Nowlin.
A garden wedding at t the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Longsdorff of near Maroa, was attended by the immediate families and a few friends. No previous announcement had been made publicly by the young couple.
Rev. H. H. Jenner of Niantic Christian church performed the ceremony at 4 p.m., Saturday, and two Sigma Alpha Iota sorority sisters of the bride furnished the wedding music. Alma Webster sang "I Love Thee" by Grieg and "L'Amour, Toujour L'Amour" by Friml after Mrs. Gernon R. Henderson, the former Jane Stewart, had played Kreisler's "Old Refrain" on the piano. Mrs. Henderson played the wedding march from "Lohengrin" by Wagner, and as the ceremony was read she played Schubert's "Ave Maria," changing later to the Mendelssohn wedding recessional.
The wedding party used a garden aisle formed between ribbons on which were clusters of flowers. The bride chose her sorority colors of red and white as a color scheme in the garden, with white gladioli, lilies, roses, and other other roses in red, predominating.
The bride was attended by her sister, Florence Longsdorff, and Ben. R. Shoot of Tuscola was best man.
Mrs. Nowlin wore white mousseline de sole with a ruffle down the front of the long skirt and around the hemline, and a large white hat, and carried a prayerbook with ribbon streamers. She wore orchids. The maid of honor wore pink mousseline de sole, white hat , and gardenias.
Mr. and Mrs. Nowlin left soon after the wedding for California, where Mr. Nowlin plans to enter business as a floriculturist. The bride's going away costume was flowered chiffon with white accessories.
The bride is a graduate of Maroa high school, a 1931 Millikin graduate, and attended Northwestern university. She organized and has been director of the Monticello Mothersingers since she became music supervisor of the public schools there five years ago.
Mr. Nowlin is a son of Mrs. Minnie B. Nowlin of Maroa. He is a graduate of Decatur high school, and is a 1934 graduate of the University of Illinois school of floriculture. He has worked in Chicago and Aurora in recent years, and now plans to go into business on the West Coast.
Out of town guests for the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Cohoon, grandparents of the bride, and Mrs. Grant Ransdel of Willow Hill, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Wilson and family of Centralia, and Mr. and Mrs. Loy Mitchell of Oblong.14
