He was born on 24 March 1828 at Lincolnshire, England, presuming that his day and month of birth in the 1901 census is correct, and that the year of his christening is correct, this may be his correct birth date. This appears to be confirmed by the age count on his gravemarker.12,13,9 Alternatively, he may have been born on 24 March 1829 at Lincolnshire, England, according to the 1901 census, possibly from Grimoldby based upon other sources.14,6,10 Alternatively, he may have been born circa 1826 at England age 25 at his next birthday in the 1851 census15; or, circa 1831 at England according to the 1861 census.8 William married Ann Maria White on 1 February 1849 at Ludborough parish, Lincolnshire, England.4,16,17,18,7,19,13,8,9,15,10 William married Frances Delaney Smith on 8 March 1900 at Collingwood Twp., Grey County, Ontario, Canada, according to Ontario Marriage Registration 007135.20,21 William Vamplew and Frances Delaney Smith were divorced before 31 March 1901. in the 1901 census, William is enumerated as "D" for divorsed, but Fannie is enumerated as "M" for married. They were enumerated as heads of separate households.
One is tempted to speculate why this was such a short marriage.6 William married Jemima Gibson on 2 November 1903 at Grey County, Ontario, Canada.22
William Vamplew died on 11 November 1904 at Collingwood Twp., Grey County, Ontario, Canada, at age 76 according to Ontario Death Registration 010703.23,4,24,13 The cause of his death was given as senility, after 1 week of illness.24 The informant on his death registration was his son, William Vamplew.24
